Our 16a group faced Benbulben FC in Sligo last month and after travelling 350 kilometres out played and out fought our opponents to win the game 4 – 0.
Paul Kiely and Ider Boldbaatar with a hattrick scored the goals but all 16 squad members played their part in a performance that blew away the Sligo side.
A very pleasing afternoon for the coaches who saw the team play some great football, defending well and keeping their composure in a hostile atmosphere.
They all looked the part in our club gear and represented our club and county in style.
The 6-hour trip home didn’t feel too bad as that winning feeling goes a long way!
We again looked forward to the draw and we came out of the hat second so another away tie awaited us, as we face Cahir Park – at least it’s not Sligo!
We will prepare properly but the weather has robbed us of game time but at least we have trained well over the period.
Cahir Park are a top side and once you go deep into a national competition, you are always going to play tough opposition.
However, we feel we can win the match and qualify for the Quarter Finals.
We are delighted to fly the flag for the Boy’s Section and we will try and emulate what our club girls have achieved.
