This year’s SFAI u16 Cup draw saw our u16a side travel to Camolin Celtic FC in Co Wexford.
After 80 mins it was the home side who prevailed on a scoreline of 3-2, Ider Boldbaatar & Gavin Keane our scorers.
The group felt disappointed not to proceed to the next round but it was not to be.
The 2022/2023 season has seen the introduction of an SFAI Trophy competition for the defeated 1st round sides.
This resulted in another away draw to St. Patrick Boys of Carlow town – playing on a new Astro surface the squad
put in a fine performance against a very physical side, seeing out the game on a 2-4 scoreline, Lee O’Mahony-Butler,
Paul Kiely and Rhys Morgan with a brace were the scorers.
This solid victory earned us a home tie v Park Rangers, where on an awful afternoon for football we coasted to a 4-0 win.
Harvey Swift, Paul Kiely, Bradley Keohan and Paul Og Clooney on the scoresheet.
So, this set up a game v Waterford Crystal where the victors would qualify outside of the South East Area and into the last 32 Nationally.
With so much at stake the game was a cagey affair with Waterford Crystal having plenty of the ball but we got the goals when it mattered
and it ended up 3-0 to Bohemians, Jeff Fanning and Eoin McDonagh x 2 with the goals.
The National Draw was eagerly anticipated and we now travel nearly the length of the country to Sligo where we face Benbulben F.C.
This away draw has thrown up some serious logistical problems for the Squad and Club. The journey of nearly 350 kilometres in itself
was daunting when you take into account the boys have to play a football match after it.
The club and team management set about planning the journey with proper break’s, healthy snacks and a pre-match meal to give the squad
every opportunity to do themselves justice and to continue the longstanding tradition of Bohemians doing well in National Completions.
Aided by our Team Sponsor’s we were able to cover the full cost of the trip and not expose the club to any extra cost’s.
Below listed are the companies who supported us.
George Corbett Motor’s, O’Keeffe Autobody, Modern Tyres, Swift Furniture, Encon LTD, Spar (Paddy Browns Road) and Hartley Body Repairs.
The whole group are looking forward to the challenge and have reserved their best performances for this competition so far this season.
